Mr. Martin Meldgaard, Senior Partner & Founder

Martin Meldgaard is a danish citizen and he has more than 20 years experience as an agricultural economist for agricultural projects in Africa. He is an expert on managing commercial agriculture and agribusiness. Emphasis on his work has been on developing sustainable agribusiness programs including food security and sustainable supply and value chain analysis, producer organizations and cooperatives including out-grower schemes. Martin also held senior positions with WFP, USAID and Danida projects. Extensive experience of value chain development, marketing and private sector development in Africa. Benefiting from a true understanding of the realities of farming in Africa and the challenges that can entail, his insight and understanding of the industry provide clear oversight and pragmatic management to both new ventures and project development initiatives.


Mr. Simon O'Sullivan, Senior Partner & Farming Director

A senior agriculturalist and Irish national, Simon has over 35 years of experience in the agricultural industry in Africa, covering land development, agricultural and rural development as well as strong involvement with small scale farmers and out-grower schemes. He has grown a variety of crops on a commercial scale including maize, soya, wheat, cotton, cattle and fruits and vegetables amongst others. He has experience in milling and baking of wheat in Africa and has developed and supplied markets for brands in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and Holland. Simon has also worked with seed companies, which saw seed processing and marketing to SADC countries as well as pasture seeds to Japan and Saudi Arabia. More recently Simon acted as an advisor to the establishment and development of a very large banana plantation in Northern Mozambique. He helped in the selection of the 3,000 hectare piece of land, water sources as well as the development of the business plan and execution.


Mr. John Jagwe, Commercial Director & Associate Partner

John is a Ugandan national and an Agricultural Economist with a PhD from University of Pretoria South Africa and a Masters Degree from Makerere University. John has 15 years experience in Agricultural Value Chain Development, Agricultural Market Information Systems, Food Security Analysis and Agribusiness Planning. John has worked on several value chains in East Africa and these include Banana, Cassava, Horticulture, Rice, Maize, Beans, Beef, Dairy and Aquaculture. John previously worked for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture as an economist and coordinator of a USAID project called FOODNET and also worked with World Food Programme as a Regional Market and Trade expert. John is also a senior lecturer in Agribusiness at the Uganda Christian University in Mukono, Uganda. John’s work is widely published in several peer reviewed journals and periodicals.

Prof. Julius Zake, Associate Partner & Soil Scientist

Professor Zake is a Ugandan citizen, holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics. He is a renown soil scientist and has been a lecturer at Makerere University in Uganda for over 40 years. He is now retired and currently he is a Chairman and boardmember of different national and international organisations and institutions including: Chairman of Africa 2000 network; Chairman Katikiro advisory committee on Agriculture; Director research and development -National Union of Coffee Agribusiness and Farm Enterprises(NUCAFE) in Uganda. He is a fellow member of Uganda national academy of science and others.

Ms. Shamilla Kara, PR & Communication Manager

Shamilla is a Ugandan national and has over 15 years of experience in Public Relations and communication. She has worked as a writer and copy editor for the leading newspapers in Uganda for the last 10 years. She has specialized in professional writing, editing, copy writing, advanced use of social media, marketing and communication planning, media training, proofreading, writing & editing services, news releases, writing for web, brochures, speech writing, internal and external newsletters.
